Who am I?

I am a British teacher educator living and working in the Netherlands. I work at the Institute of Education (IVLOS) at the university of Utrecht, teaching language methodology and general educational courses (for example, on co-operative learning, learning styles, multiple intelligence theory), in Dutch and in English. I have lived in the Netherlands for over ten years. Before I moved here I had a varied career, starting as an EFL teacher in Spain and Chile and later working on British Council and Overseas Development Administration (ODA) projects in, for example, China and Poland.

I do some in-service training, which is usually tailormade; at the moment I am working with a team of language teachers at a polytechnic for tourism on language teaching and competencies, as well as a school team on differentiation related to MI.

I also occasionally freelance. For example, I worked for three weeks in South America a few years ago with teachers in Brazil in Chile on task-based education. My most recent experience was a two-week training the trainers course in Cairo, adminstered by the Academy for Educational Development (AED) and Amideast, funded by USAID.
